bye, bye baby....hello toddler!

It has been several weeks since we have had time to update everyone on what is going on with our family.  This is simply due to the fact that our sweet, precious baby is now a full on toddler.  We are constantly chasing after her, and trying to keep her out of everything!  Now that includes much more since she is walking and can reach higher.  She also loves to crawl up the stairs, and giggles anytime we chase her around the couch.  Right now we live in an enclosed space in our living room, although it seems like the only person who can manage to find an easy way past the barricade is Adelyn!  Here are a few photos from Ady's first birthday party, her Winter Onederland.  We didn't have much snow here that weekend, but of course Omaha had the first snowstorm of 2012 that weekend so most of our family was not able to attend.  Thankfully we had several friends, and some family that made the trip so her birthday was still very special!  Unbelievable that she is already 1, and amazing to think that one year ago we were "living" in the hospital praying our baby would be strong enough to come home!

Getting ready for her party, being such a ham!

Right before her party with Aunt Chrissy, smiles everywhere that day!

The birthday monthly banner - amazing to see how much she has changed

Our birthday girl, unfortunately this is the only picture of us at her party

After eating her birthday cupcake, surprisingly she didn't make a huge mess

She got to have another cupcake on her actual birthday, this one was more messy.  She also gave the dogs the cake part while she devoured the frosting.

Can't believe she is so big!
We had Adelyn's 12 month doctor appointment, and we are so blessed to say she is developing perfectly.  She has finally hit 20 lbs so that puts her at the 30th percentile which is the highest she has ever been.  She still is a small fry with her height at 10% and her huge melon at 93%.  She is also hitting all of her developmental milestones all while still being such a happy little girl.  It is really hard to have a bad day when you get to look at her beautiful, smiling face!  We are so excited to see what the next 12 months brings!!

On the Move

Just like the beautiful weather and leaves that are changing, the Sass household is experiencing a lot a change lately.  Several weeks ago, Adelyn began sitting up on her own.  Soon after that she began doing pushups in preparation for crawling.  Gotta strengthen those arms and legs for movement!  She began army crawling and then moved around like an inchworm.  Much to our surprise, this week Adelyn has mastered the typical crawling motion.  Most of the time she is crawling to Baxter or Ginger and one of their toys, but the most special crawling is to Daddy when he gets home from work!  This video is Adelyn crawling for Ginger's bone, thankfully Ginger has learned to get up and walk away from the annoying baby!

Last week we learned that Ady has two teeth coming in, and maybe two more on top soon.  She is also starting the "Mommy" phase where she is always reaching for me, and not wanting to be put down unless I'm in sight.  This phase has led to the final change in our home, Adelyn has learned to climb up mommy to a stand.  She isn't steady on her feet, but she gets better at it each day.  She is becoming so curious of her environment, and it is so beautiful to watch her learn.  Our sweet angel is growing so quickly, we can't believe she is 8 months this week.

Roll Over...

She has found her hands, they are captivating
Last week was a week of firsts for the Sass Family!  I finally went back to work after an extended maternity leave.  Although it was difficult to leave my precious Ady, I knew she was in good hands with Daddy (and Grandma later in the week).  It is comforting that I am only going back part-time, primarily because we are having the hardest time finding daycare that works with our schedule.  Although I do enjoy being able to spend most of my week with Ady, and only a few days at work.  Another big event that happened last week was Adelyn surprised herself and everyone else when she rolled onto her back.  We were able to catch it on video, and now she thinks it is a fun trick to do whenever it is tummy time.  She is even starting to roll onto her side when she is lying on her back, boy are we gonna have to watch her now.  We were especially excited with this "milestone" because that means Adelyn is right on track for development.

All that work takes it out of you!

She is getting so big, she likes to show everyone!

We are also so ecstatic to report that Ady is sleeping 10 hours over night! Hopefully this isn't a fluke, but she has been doing this for a week or so already. Our little ladybug finds ways everyday to make us smile, and we are so blessed to have our little family!
