Adelyn loves to go up on her hands and knees/feet and now she is starting to rock. She still scoots backwards, but she doesn't really know where she is going. So now that she has learned to rock on her knees, sometimes she manages to push herself forward only to fall on her face! This video catches some rocking in the beginning, but then it is just our little lady exploring her world! We may just skip crawling all together because now her favorite thing is to pull herself up to stand while holding our fingers for leverage. Rumor has it, this was what her mother did :) so maybe she is just following the family tradition! Enjoy!

Finally... 6 month photos!
Things have been a bit crazy around the Sass house, so I'm a little late getting some of Adelyn's 6 month photos uploaded. I have to admit, I thought if I didn't add these photos maybe she wouldn't really be 6 months. :) Our little Peanut is growing so much. At Adelyn's 6 month checkup, the doctor told us she is growing and developing just like a term 6 month old. Good news, she doesn't need age adjustment anymore!! She is 50% for height and head circumference, and 25% for weight (no wonder she is still in 3 month clothing). Some of the other recent accomplishments for Miss Adelyn are responding to (and ignoring) her name, knowing Ginger & Baxter by name, eating cereal like a champ, giggling like crazy, sitting unassisted for 10-15 seconds, inching her body backwards (although not entirely sure it is intentional), putting both feet into her mouth at the same time (not sure that is an accomplishment or just gross), and the sweetest thing of reaching for us when we go to pick her up - love this one! Hopefully by the next monthly update she will be able to sit up by herself and drink from a sippy cup without causing her eyes to water & a coughing spell.

She thought a fun game to play with daddy was catch Ady before she falls off the frog.
Every once in a while its all worth it for a shot like this!
Might need to train Daddy on fixing the props & where to stand.
By far the worst part of going to the checkups is the shots. She let out a scream at this round of shots that we had never heard before. Daddy thought it was refreshing to hear that sound, since fortunately we aren't use to hearing her cry like that. He might be eating his words now. The last 3 nights have been horrible. Our little angel who has slept through the night since 8 weeks decided to go on vacation and leave the screaming, cranky sidekick. The calm before the storm she was rolling around (see the photos) having fun, and then it was time to sleep. It doesn't help that mother's intuition is failing this week too. Not sure if it is the shots, teething, growth spurt, or separation anxiety. Now I can finally appreciate when other parents say, just when you think you have things figured out - they change! The good news is there is improvement from night to night, bad news I'm still not sure what is going on. As long as my sweet little angel comes back from vacay, I can live without knowing.

The other exciting event in Adelyn's life was sitting in her swimming pool. We borrowed the dogs pool to let Ady try out the water. She absolutely loves her baths, so we thought she might like the pool too. I think if we would have been in there with her, she would have stayed in the pool longer. The smallest swimming diapers we could find were size 3-4, so they were essentially the same size as her. She had fun splashing around in the water, and floating around on her back. She played for 15 minutes and then had enough. I think she was getting uncomfortable with how we were holding her, so she wouldn't slide under the water. She is able to sit on her own for 10-15 seconds before leaning on to her hands, so she wasn't able to sit very well in the water. We are continuing to play in the water because now that she is 6 months, she is able to begin swim lessons!
Just getting into the water.
Come on in, the water is nice! (diapers about to slip off)
Loves her ducky! This picture makes me laugh because it looks like "Giant Baby invades" She is the same size as the miniature pine tree, but it looks like a regular size tree.
Since I posted some photos of her new activities over the past week, I thought I would post some of one of her favorite things...bathtime! She gets so excited when we get her bathtub out, she loves to splash and play in the water. Once I got the camera out to catch some photos, the posing began. She is such a funny girl!
Our little ladybug is such a blessing, we are so fortunate to have her in our lives. It is really hard to have a bad attitude when she is around - her beautiful eyes and smile brighten everything around. Even Ginger loves to be around her, she has taken on the responsibility of surrogate mom. She always looks for Adelyn when she can't see her, and loves to rest by her crib when Adelyn is resting. We were a bit worried with how Ginger would accept her, but we have been pleasantly surprised. We love our little peanut, and excited that our puppies do too!

Keep My Eyes on You
We have been so blessed to have such a happy, healthy baby girl! A few weeks ago we learned that we now have to buckle Adelyn in to her seated toys and chairs. She is now able to climb out the side of her swing or squiggle out the bottom of her bouncy chair. She loves to take naps in her swing, and now that we buckle her in while she sleeps - it is easier to step away for a minute to pay bills, go to the restroom, or take the dogs outside. Well that little bit of freedom has come to an end. The other day I was paying bills in the office, and I thought it was pretty quiet in the living room and I hadn't checked on her in 10 minutes or so. So I walked into the room, and my heart fell to my feet. I ran over to her while she was swinging to make sure she was fine. I was able to stop the swing without startling her or causing her to move. So wanting to capture everything, I grabbed a real quick photo before I got her out. While staying buckled in, she managed to move her body perpendicular to how she is "supposed" to be in the seat. Her head was hanging over the side. She was quite content although every time the swing moved to the right her head came within inches to hitting the entertainment center. Needless to say we no longer leave the room even if she is securely strapped!
Awww - to be so relaxed!

Adelyn's 1st Sniffles
Rosy cheeks in the midst of the fever!
So sleepy - she is on her noisy book!
Even though Adelyn was sick this weekend, she still managed to conquer a milestone. She decided to sit unsupported in a tripod sit - with her hands helping her balance. She did a couple of face plants in the carpet before sitting by herself. I'm sure before no time she will start crawling. Our little baby is growing up!
